When past memories collide with future dreams, we have the opportunity to deconstruct and build again. This salt is that. Inspired by my old life in Brooklyn and preparations for a return, this vibrant and lively summer herb salt reminds me of days in the Grand Army Plaza Farmers Market with heirloom tomatoes and perfumed blush toned nectarines piled high. It’s inspired by salads at Franny’s, Al Di La, and dishes doused in olive oil at Frankies 457. It’s tomato-verbena-centric with an intense fresh-fruity aspect. It’s strong, looking for something yet independent, herbaceous and spicy and, at the same time, slightly fruity: evocative of me in Brooklyn. Let this melt and drip onto the obvious stone fruit mozzarella salad. It will work on anything fruity or cheesy.
